Cool programs that work together

Hi all,

I finally got around to updating my journal, I haven't had much to say for the past few months.

I've recently stumbled across a very neat, free-to-own 3d modeling program called Sculptris Alpha 5, released by the creators of ZBrush. You start with a little sphere and move on to sculpt whatever your imagination allows within the program. You can make creatures, objects--whatever you feel comfortable trying to tackle! I'm thinking about making Fella, personally. :fella:

You can also paint your creations and give them an over-abundance of different textures using custom brushes or materials. What I've found interesting is that it is very compatible with other programs such as Bryce 7 or DAZ Studio 3.

Your final product (unpainted) can be imported as an object file directly into Bryce and, vice-versa, you can render your own materials from Bryce (or any other program) as a jpg or png file and import them into Sculptris as a usable material! I get the feeling that this can be accomplished in other programs (I may try incendia soon) and think that over time, my range of creative software use may expand even more.

I feel that this is something worth sharing, so thank you for actually reading! :D

Thanks for watching,

Thanks for this helpful advice. I have Bryce, but I am so intimidated by not knowing how to use it, that I never do.

Yeah, I've found that the best way to learn Bryce is to just jump right in. Once you figure out where the camera is pointing and how to switch between views, a simple abstract becomes possible. That's pretty much all I stick to nowadays! :giggle: There are a few little tutorials floating around on dA that might give you a little more confidence for starting out, though. :D

Oh, and if you ever decide to play around with Sculptris, be warned that it is a bit memory intensive. The more complicated your shape becomes, the slower and glitchier the program will start to run.

Meant to say...give IT a go. Thanks for the advice on Bryce and Sculptris. I believe you've helped me out before. I really appreciate it.
